The top and bottom 2×6’s of the gate are lap joints and show when the edge of the gate is viewed. I wanted a third board for extra support to preserve the rectangle should the lap joints compress, but I wanted the joint for this board to be blind. I used Invis fasteners on each end of this middle board.
